Did you notice that Toni Morrison does not assign a race to Twyla and Roberta, other than to say that one is black and one is white? If so, did you try to figure out or at least assume the race of the characters? How did you do so? Did this reveal any racial biases you unknowingly maintain? After considering the lack of knowledge with which you as a reader had to contend, explain in 300 words, why Morrison would leave out this information.
